My creative practise is centred around recycling. Finding unexpected detail and beauty in found and discarded objects.
I believe strongly that designers and artists should make every effort not to damage the environment through their work.
I love the term “ upcycling” which is when an object is recycled and taken further, giving a second value to a no longer wanted resource.
My primary raw material is tinplate taken from unwanted sweet, biscuit and storage tins
The tinplate is cut and manipulated to form unique artworks ranging from wall panels and decorative canvases to smaller and highly unusual pieces of jewellery.
I use common place tins as well as seeking out vintage and collectable tins.
The surface colour and pattern play an important role within each piece made and can often dictate how the tin is utilised.
Many themes inspire me from nature to man made forms.
